I have a 98 100 that did not come with the factory roof rack. I went to Toyota, and they told me I can no longer get it as it's discontinued?!?!?

Does anyone know if I can use a newer model roof rack on my 98?

Or, does anyone have a one they've taken off and would like to sell?

Cheers!

JR

The roof rack of a 98-2007 should fit in my opinion because the design of the roof has not changed since the model was introduced. question might be who can install it... I have been thinking of getting my hands on an African Outback but i cant seem to pull the $1,000 (ouch!) trigger!

I'm about to get a safari rack put on after Christmas . If you can wait that long, I'll sell you mine for shipping cost.

C-dog, I'll take your rack man!

I'll PM you with my contact info...

Factory roof racks are typically installed with rivet-set nuts, much like a molly bolt. I recommend you pull down the headliner and use stainless bolts with fender washers soaked with silicone sealer and nylon insert lock nuts. The rack will be stronger and you won't need any special tools or fittings.

Good Luck.

So if you have a 100 w/o a factory rack, there are NO holes at all in the roof? I would think Toyota would make the holes and plug them so it would be easier then having to make trucks with and without the holes. You get what im trying to say?

Don't care, my 100 doesn´t have a factory rack and the holes are still there. They have some metal brackets hidden by plastic covers.

The 100 series does not have the typical rivnut/nutserts. They are as Dandon describes whether it came equipped with an OEM rack or not.

well then, if the holes are already there, it would take all of 15-30mins to install a factory roof rack on your 100. I took mine off, took the cross bars off and put it back on in under 30mins.

Now all you need boston, is for xmas to be over so someone can send you their rack, :)
