Hi there folks,

Needing some help getting some parts numbers and price quotes figured out.

Have a 1998 HDJ 100 (Argentina Market Vehicle) with a blown engine. Damage was apparently caused by:
1) Valve dropped and the piston ate it up
2) Injector failure destroyed the piston

Ultimately, piston parts dropped to the bottom and were pushed against the side of the block and creating a hole.

Kms shown are around 390.000, so rather than rebuilding the engine, it will be getting a complete new long block, along with the Turbo and the Cylinder Head.

My ask is simple:
I need to find quotes for the following part numbers, so as to check if the dealer I am working with is actually getting the right parts, as well as understanding of there's a way to save some dough. Can someone here please let me know how to get these priced? US, México or Canada delivered would be best.

Basically, I'm looking for:
11400-17110 = Short Block
19000-17650 = Complete Engine / Long Block
11101-17042 = Cylinder Head
17201-17040 = Turbo Carger

The VIN to said truck is: JT111TJA008000182

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

parts numbers are corrected, so far and priced out before shipped. available through suppliers. All prices are noted in USA currency and are new OEM parts. Finding a supplier willing to ship internationally can be hard to find or at least at times I have tried.

* short block engine 1HDFTE without EGR valve, USD $4,190.30.

* long block "01.1998 - 07.2000" year models, USD $12,089.36

*
Cylinder head, new - USD $2,660.57

*
TurboCharger, new USD $2,015.45 - $2,277.70

I hope this has helped, please let us know if we can do anything else.

You can quote most if not all here in Panama .. but ain't gonna be cheap .. but honestly you gotta thing in used engine from Iquique north of Chile ..

Thanks for your quick response. Can I assume these prices are quoted in texas? I'm in Arkansas and have time to drive down to get them and ship out if I decide to get them.

If you don't mind, can you please tell me what the difference isbetween the Short Block and Long Block in detail?

Hi Tapage, would you mind helping get a quote from a local dealer there in Panama?

As much as we'd love to save the $$$ getting a used engine in Iquique, local regulations in Argentina don't allow importations of used car parts or accessories. In addition to this, the engine Block carries an etched number on it which is part of the registration of the vehicle, and the only way to swap an engine into a vehicle is using one that is registered (a used engine out of a locally registered vehicle, or a new engine with the associated paperwork issued with importation process)

The damage itself is on the lower part of the engine, specifically the crank case, so we could get away with simply replacing that, the pistons and crank, refurbishing the head and re-boring the block... by the time it is all said and done, I am not sure this would be a dependable engine and factoring labor costs on top of parts, the final tally will not be too far from a complete new engine.

Considering the outstanding condition the vehvile is in otherwise, low miles/kms for the age, and value in the local market (these go for about $30k USD and up)... This will give us a completely renovated LC that will be good for a number of years to come without worrying about anything about other than basic maintenance.

If only they sold it with a can of "new car scent" spray... hahaha
