98 4runner rear window

my rear window wont go up and down and the rear wiper wont work either. I dont drive the truck much but I know I used wiper this winter so I know it worked a few months ago. the rear defrost button lights up and the rear squirter works.

When you push the down button you can hear a click noise but nothing more happens.

There's a motor back there that could have failed, or the window is out of the channels and can't move?

Pull the rear trim off and find the 2 pin plug for the motor. Jump 12V to it and see if it moves (try it both ways, +/- for one direction, -/+ for the other).

The switches and motors both get gummed up, and both are easily fixed by cleaning.

If your motor is good, pull the switch and start checking with a multimeter set to resistance, you sould have two pairs of pins that go from open to -0-, one for "up" and one for "down".

If your motor and switch are good, check for 12V coming in to the switch. If you have it, your problem is in the wiring between the switch and the motor. If you don't, check the relay, and the wiring going to the switch.

thank you!!! I got it working the other day... not sure what it was... I messed with the position of the whiper and adjusted the door. works fine now.

My guess is dirty switch. Sometimes if you just click them a bunch they start working again!
