Hey guys i have a 2.7litre 98 4runner that is giving me some grief. I have been experiencing random throttle loss response when driving to work in the morning. Usually what happens is i will have to just coast off to the shoulder let rpms drop and away i go again. I have managed to live with it for 2 months now but letting the truck warm up for 10 mins or so before driving. This seems to eliminate issue. I have tried replacing idle control sensor without luck. Starting to piss me off. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Maybe the fuel pump. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge or an odbII reader? Does it idle higher than it should? If so it also could be a vacuum leak.

I do have an obd there aren't any codes unfortunately. Thanks for the reply. Dont have a fuel pressure guage. is fuel pressure relatively easy for a shop to check and cheap? Doesnt have a higher idle. Was told idle is good. the weird thing about the problem is that once its warmed up it wont loos throttle response what so ever.

Two things that are most likely to cause your motor to slow down, lack of air or lack of fuel. It will be difficult for a shop to track an intermittent problem. If you get an OBD2 tool like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00H9...rds=obd+ii&dpPl=1&dpID=41+567lvzlL&ref=plSrch you will be able to monitor more of the engine. I'm not suggesting this specific model is the right one for you and your truck. I have never used it my self and some of the obd tools can be a bit picky about what vehicle you have. There are other brands out there that may work for you that only cost about $20. Just an idea if you want to troubleshoot on your own.
