Not mine, but taking a look this weekend. Supposedly salvage title based on carfax he looked at when he bought it, but he says he's got a clean title? I've got the VIN if anyone can run the report.

Thoughts? What he's told me is that the paint is crap, it's got heated front seats, but they don't work, there's a small spot of rust on the seam where the rocker comes together on the driver side (pictured), he did a full knuckle rebuild, new water pump, new alternator, clutch fan, new fluids in the diffs and t-case last spring. Coolant flush about 2.5 years ago, and it comes with a ton of receipts from the PO (brakes ,plugs etc). Also has a crack in the dash (most interior is good though), occasional p401 code, leaks a little oil from typical problem areas on an 80 series, and the air bag light is on, but he's never looked into it.

That's a 40th anniversary, not a CE. The undercarriage doesn't look too bad, so i would imagine that something happened to damage the paint at that spot to cause the rust.

Not a bad buy at all for a locked 40th with an ARB bumper.

If you pick it up and want to get rid of those rusty parts, I have a clean PS fender and door in Sage that i can make you a deal on. The fender is cut for a snorkel, which I also have. I wrecked my 40th in December but the passenger side was undamaged, so I pulled these off for spares. I have been informed that I have too many spares.....

Toyota owners VIN lookup shows it was a CE in Moonglow pearl:

But in any case, if I was to pick it up, I'd take care of that rust and eventually have it professionally repainted in the stock color. Spares might not be a bad thing to have on hand. The salvage title scares me a little, though.

Nope - not a 40th IME. 40th’s were either sage or deep green exclusively for paint & had the 2-tone leather (cream insets, brown edges).

At least my 40th was a locked Sage w/ the 2-tone seats.

Prob a Moonglow CE - either way, we’re seeing a metric ton of rusty ones & this one looks pretty decent overall.

I didn’t click the link yet, but depending on why it got a branded title & his price, it’s a good 80 for dirty deeds.

::::Edit - clicked the link. He seems realistic in price & his ad reads like he has at least lurked Mud, I’d go look if I was in the market for another. I’m selfish tho - so my advice is to kill the link, call/text him now, and get to be the 1st one there to see it. /Edit:::::

Ok; i was going to buy this cruiser.

It is a CE, Moonglow pearl, less than 30 made i think.
Does have lockers, no bad rust.

It was a total loss. It was painted poorly.

When i talk to the owner he was a really nice guy and honest since the beginning.
Got good maintenance and interior is not trashed.

If shipping wouldn't be $2200 for this thing to where i live, it would be in my garage.

Oh, I stand corrected. It is moonglow pearl. When I looked at it on my phone earlier it looked sage.

This is only the 2nd Moonglow CE that I've seen for sale.

Did you see it in person, or just talk to the guy? I'm pretty excited about seeing it Saturday. Did he tell you what the total loss was due to? He did say it was painted poorly, but as I said earlier, all the better for wheeling and camping now, and if/when I upgrade or retire it, I'd consider having it professionally painted back to factory color and standards at that time.

With @Mdej3 listing FL as home turf, I’d say the house odds are on all distance convo.

But I been wrong plenty, and plenty more to come ;)

It like reading a diary...You guys talk like I'm not even on here. hahaha Thanks for spreading the word.

its indeed a moonglow pearl by VIN and a CE.. the poor respray is very close though.

It was a total loss years ago when i believe it was hit in the left rear corner. Given the age its not hard to total one of these.

There is a thread somewhere on mud where it breaks down what was made per year and i think " think" that it was something like 1 of 35 made in collectors edition with lockers in MGP. Im in no big rush to sell it and listed it pretty much out of curiosity. Kids/life got the front seat and i never got the chance to build what i envisioned.

It was always my plan to build it up extremely well and give it to my son in 10 years...but nowdays i dont even have the time to think about doing a build.

Well, 45 posts in 6 yrs = pretty much lurking.

And you got free exposure.

Take the win. And GLWS.

Nightshadow, Moonglow, Black = my fav 3 ext colors.

or.. i could have been looking for a new 80 to buy and just happen to see someone post about mine.

Unfortunately, he decided to keep the truck, and I didn't get a chance to look at it, so I took the link down.
