Without prejudice.

Just a heads-up on this seller, in the interest of an open forum that's safe for and fair to everybody. .

When I contacted him about the seats and centre console, he told me he had someone interested @ $1000 shipped but "nothing in writing".

Two days ago I offered slightly less shipped (contingent on pictures), and he said "sounds good" and that he would send some pics.

Yesterday he PMed me with a price of $2500 for seats and console, and didn't send any pics. I think he responded to the wrong person. He is asking 2.5x the price someone else declined? Hmm...

When I called him on this odd PM, he told me he got the PMs mixed-up. Clearly he's playing games, offering "X" to someone at one price and to another at another price. Fair enough, it's his truck to part out at whatever price he wants, but "sounds good" sounds to me like an offer accepted... not an offer accepted while secretly trying to sell the same items to someone else (at four times the price!).

Anyway, something about this doesn't sit right with me. He has no posts besides parting out this vehicle, and nobody knows him from adam.

I'm not saying the seller is dishonest, I'm saying that this is a good example of caveat emptor.

If I were to buy from him I would ask a known 'Mudder in the Calgary area to meet the seller with the cash and have him pick up whatever I bought on my behalf, in-person, cash and carry. At this point I would be very leary about sending the seller funds directly.

I'm withdrawing my offer on the seats/console, so they will be offered to someone else; if it's you be very careful before you send any money.

I appreciate Iron Yuppy's view... given the circumstances of our PMs and my lack of communication back to him, I tried to walk away from this potential deal with as little injury as possible, by apologizing for any frustration or confusion, and by declining to sell said items to him. Little did I know I would get slammed with a nice warning to all about my integrity. A "without prejudice" WARNING being so judgemental?!?

Not that I need to defend myself, I feel I do owe some sort of explination thanks to the Yuppy's post, now that he/she has put it out there:

My original offer for one item was $1000 (didn't know where to be, so I threw it out there). I was under the thought that IronYuppy's offer for that item was $600 so I agreed...he was under the impression it was for 2 items we had discussed. When I realized there was a miscommunication I tried to regretfully decline, and to my fault, didn't offer any explination (now I am writing one to all).

I have always wanted a Land Cruiser, and living in one of the only countries that doesn't sell them, I have gone to some lengths to purchase what I thought would satisfy me - a Lexus LX450. Once I started to fix the car up, I realize the specimen I bought, wouldn't be worth the repair and thought I would stop to look for another vehicle. I subsequently purchased a '94 Toyota to continue my dream.

Now I am sitting with a car that I don't want, and won't use. Do I sell it, and loose some money? or Do I part it out and use some parts for myself? Hence my offer.

I am not a "Seller", as in someone who does this for a living, and certainly not trying to scam anyone.

This forum has been a great avenue for information, and I hope it continues as I enter this journey. I only found it about 2 weeks ago, and that is probably why no one knows me from Adam.

Sorry for any confusion or frustration, and I hope my post explains the situation a little better.

Finally, maybe someone can explain to me...
For an individual who would quote BHM Cruiser, Attorney at Law - "Contracts were made to be broken", why so much headache and time spent over a broken contract discussion?... To quote Arsenial Hall, entertainer - "Things that make you go HMMM". Maybe we all need to be warned about IronYuppy's integrity, and judge him without prejudice.

PM sent.

Look, here's the deal; you got caught double-dealing, and I warned the forum about it.

That's it, that's all. I even made a point of stating that I wasn't suggesting you're dishonest. I also made a point of not mentioning the exact price I offered, so as to not spoil any arrangement you have subsequently made with someone else.

I have bought and sold with literally dozens of people on this forum, with no problems. You, as you stated, are a recent arrival here.

If you'd like the forum to decide which member's integrity to trust, I'll be happy to post our exchange of PMs and let them decide for themselves.

What people here don't like is the runaround. I offered you $600 for the seats and console, you accepted it, then the following day you PMed me with another price of $2500 (and subsequently admitted that you had your respondents mixed-up).

Now you're suggesting that:

a) there was some misunderstanding about what parts I wanted, and

b) I have broken a contract with you

There's not much grey area on what we had discussed. If, for the sake of argument, you're claiming that you didn't know the centre console was part of the parts I wanted, then you're also suggesting that you're asking $1900 for the console since we had already agreed on $600 for what you claim to understand was just the seats. I suggest that anyone seeking $1900 for a used centre console is, at best, delusional.

Considering that someone on this forum just bought a complete non-running LX450 for under $4000, you don't have quite the gold mine you'd hoped. Don't attempt to penalise members of this community for your poor investment. Most of us have been there, to one degree or another. As I stated before, you're free to charge whatever you want, and the market will self-correct, but trolling for better deals AFTER making an agreement is pretty sleazy, and won't make you many friends here.

When I said "without prejudice", I meant it. I don't which you any ill-will, and I wish you good luck selling your truck; just don't jerk me or anyone else here around while you do it. There are members here who wouldn't have been as tactful of forgiving as I was.

You got smacked-down and your position is indefensible. Just leave it, learn from it, and move on.

Thanks for putting me in my place IronYuppy...I owe you one!
I hope you feel better, but pompus asses like you don't need anymore encouragement.

I offered up $1000 for the centre console. Like I said before, just throwing it out there? Didn't know what to charge. When you said $600, I thought - Wow, not bad, I thought I might get a couple hundred max. I didn't realize $600 was for the seats and centre console, that is why I tried to walk away.

There was never any double dealing...all I mentioned to you was that I had also offered it to someone else for $1000.

By the way, after some searching, the cheapest I have seen seats and motors for was $450 each. If you think I'm gonna ship the two seats, and centre console for $600, you're on crack!

Have a good life.

To administration...

Please remove this thread. Due to some idiots trying to slam me, and my integrity, it is not worth parting out my truck.

To all those interested in parts...sorry, nothing is available. I have not had a good time trying to part this vehicle out due to some other members on this forum, and am no longer interested in helping some fellow members out.

Seems a good way to "walk away" would been to have said "no thanks" instead of "sounds good".

FWIW, Oleg at IRBIS, who has a stellar rep on this board and nothing to prove to anyone, sells leather seats for $250 per row.

Southislandimports.ca in Nanaimo sells all three rows for CAD$500 or less, when they have them.

I made you a fair offer and you weaseled yourself out of it. You'll be lucky to sell them for much more, particularly as they will most likely sell within Canada. In the meantime, I'll just wait until Southisland gets another set, then drive 90 minutes north and pick them up for $500 or less.

I see you're not interested in take me me up on my offer to post our PMs, which would have cleared this up tuite suite.

Since you deem it fair to introduce name-calling, then I'll follow suite; you're a liar.

I'm putting you back on ignore before you dig yourself into a deeper hole with your fibs.

I'm sure other members will be disappointed you're no longer willing to help them out by charging them 3x market value for ten year old truck parts.

I no longer have the PMs. Post them up. I have nothing to hide.
To me, I mis-understood what your offer was, and walked away. Like I said before...sorry for the confusion.

No lies dude, no double dealing.

The fur is flying on this one!

I you need a tan Lexus center console, I think I can find one for about $80 USD.

I looked at Lexus seats on Friday, they were exposed to the elements, $150 USD.
