hey guys. I currently have 3 3rd Gen 4Runners. This '97 was going to be another project but I already have a lifted 3rd and another project 3rd so...
'97 SR5 3.4, 4x4, 5 Speed, e-Locker :D
Anthracite Metallic (brownish color)
Tan cloth Interior
195K miles
Bought it after a flat bed rolled out of a garage without having the new brakes pumped up, rolled into the tailgate. Banged up the tailgate but didn't effect the quarter panels, bumper or frame. It was barely moving, just rolled into it. I already hung a new (used) tailgate on it. But still need to swap the rear wiper mechanism and hatch lock. The RF fender was dented so I just hung a replacement on it yesterday. Front bumper was rough too so I replaced it and the lower valance. The old head lights looked like hell so I threw a set of clear '99 + lights on it.
It needs four tires so I just bought 4 Bridgestone Duelers for it. Also needs a muffler which I'll replace.
Runs well, I bought it off the second owner who owned it since '07. Original owner had it 10 years.
Looking to trade for:
1st Gen 4Runner (maybe even the right 2nd Gen)
T-100
Early Yota Pick Up
Maybe an LC
Maybe even a car
Motorcycle
What do you have? If I had to guess, in my area it's about a $4000 truck as it sits. So I'd be willing to throw more on top if need be or take a tade of less value plus cash on your end. Either way, I'm flexible. Looking to do something soon, it'll be off to the paint shop if I don't do somethig soon and then it'll be listed for an outright sale.
I'm located just outside of Philadelphia. I'm pretty well versed in 3rd Gen 4Runners, it's a decent truck. Would make an awesome wheeler and even a good DD. It's by no means perfect but it's 15 years old too. And I'm sure you all know how tough it is to find a 5 speed with an e-Locker.
Let me know if you're interested and what you have. Thanks for looking. I'm not on here much but I'm all over T4R.org, not just trolling for a deal.

Joe,

Clean title. Not branded or anything.

That's an awesome 40 you have there, very cool. I'd love to do a trade but I really can't justify forking over cash on top for a dedicated trail rig. I'd love to but my wife would divorce me. How street able is that thing? And can it be closed up? I don't have a garage to keep it in.

Stops and turns fine but alot of body roll. Not even close to a DD. Would need anti roll upgrades and adjustable shocks to do any continuous street driving. I'm looking to go expedition rig for more use. Stuff like 4 doors, ac, kayaks and mountain bikes, camping, light sas stuff, not trail rig with tow pig. I will keep looking but if you change your mind let me know.

Definitely will, thanks Joe. If they were closer to eachother in value I'd be all over this but like I said, I can't justify spending the extra money on a trail rig. I have too many other projects. That's the problem when you buy a 100 year old house and have Yota's. LOL

Still for sale? Do you know if the 5 speed rear locker was factory? If so does it have the 4.56 gears? Sorry for the 20 q's. Just been looking for that combo.

5 speed and eLocker are factory. But being a 6 cylinder I believe it has 4.30's in it, not 4.56's.

I have someone coming to look at it today. I'll let you know how that goes.
