97 4 Runner Wheel Offset

So...bought some black 16" steel wheels that came off a 4 Runner (not sure what year) put on new tires, all good but had to use a 1/4" spacer on the front to keep from brakes. Now getting a significant 'shimmy' around 40 mph. No bent wheels and brand new tires. My truck is a '97, 4 Cyl 4x4 stick shift. Seems the offset/spacer problem is the culprit. Truck had stock 15'' wheels and drove great, but the 16" wheels and tires don't rub and look great. The spacer was an off the rack universal, probably not a good idea. I'm clearly no expert, can anyone confirm the correct wheel/offset I need for this 4Runner? Or any other suggestions?

Could you post a picture of your original wheels that didn't create shimmy? Also a photo of the new rims would be good too.

Also what type of lug nuts are you using?
