Soooo, nobody takes pleasure in admitting or sharing when they have made a mistake. I saw an ad on CL last night for a low mileage 4Runner. I call the guy (Tico) and he tells me I'm the first caller and he will wait on me, what a great guy!!! I go look at it today, he tells me he will wait all day for me to bring hime the money.
I looked over it and it had all the markings of a truck that sat for years on end of no use. Although, it felt like a well used 100k +/- mile truck, I was sold....I promise, I meant to look at the title to see if it was box A, B or C, however I got distracted by my own excitement. Money changed hands to the tune of $2800 (a bargin!)
I drove away and 15 minutes later it dawned on me to check the title for the silly detail I couldn't be bothered with earlier....and, box C on the title :/
I called Tico and explained it to him. Long story short, he offered to return most of my money and return the truck to him, which I accepted.
I later had my buddy to a free history check, which confirms years at a time of no mileage increase and an odo change at 72k to 9700. current odo reads at 42k. If this is accurate, I estimate the vehicle to have a little over 100k. I feel burned and don't want it. What do you guys think, should I write it off? Thanks!
EDIT: He did offer to allow me to buy for less than $2800, however, it needs some front end work, I'm not sure how much.
