-SOLD-
I've had some good feedback that my price is high. I'll go OBO. I intend to fix some of these issues over the next little while. A little cash out of pocket up front to avoid car payments for the next year+ is alright. Lesson learned I guess. If you're local and want to help me with some of the repairs I'll even knock more $$ off. I'll fix the radiator, brakes, window, and check out the electrical and try this sale again. Thanks!

So, I bought this in December and immediately got a new job. No vacation means that I am paying for a second LC that I can not use for over a year. I'm getting rid of it. You can see a couple pics of it here. My intention was to outfit it for Moab with lift, ARB, Slee sliders, etc. Now I just have a payment on a vehicle I can't use. I need the money back in my budget rather than sitting idly in my driveway for over a year.

I am being completely honest with the Mud community. I believe this is a solid rig that just needs a little effort. I wouldn't hesitate to take my family anywhere in it after fixing the items listed below. The engine and transmission are strong and the interior is in excellent condition and the suspension is great. The exterior is in good condition except as noted below. I really like this LC, but see my comments above. If I can't sell it here for what I need in order to close out my loan I'll take it to a used dealership and let them discover all this after I've finished my trade.

-Rust:The only rust I know of is along the top of the windshield on the roof. It extends about 2 inches above the windshield for the length of the windshield. Estimate: $800. Oh yeah, and the tow hitch. Oddly enough the hitch is rusty but the undercarriage and frame are not.
-Radiator is cracked. Hairline fracture in the top tank that would not be noticeable during a regular vehicle inspection. Previous owner got me on this one.

-Brakes: Rear emergency brakes are toast. I have an estimate from Firestone complete with a listing of parts that need to be replaced. Happy to scan and share them upon request.

-I put brand new 285 (33") Revo's on it when it bought it. When I trade it in I'll replace with Craigslist junk tires and sell the Revos separately. They have probably 300 highway miles on them since purchase.

-No spare tire. (Another thing I didn't check. Doh!)

-Front diff has a noise under torque. My best guess, and diagnosed by dealership, is that that pinion gear is out of adjustment. About $800 to have someone else fix it I think.

-Front and Rear Lockers work great. I have used them and tested them in the snow.

-Code 71 from CEL - good ol' code 71!

-Rear latch on tail gate has a snapped piece of plastic in the mechanism. Another hidden gem from previous owner. I Jerry-rigged it with a zip tie and it works fine. To replace it is $$$. You have to replace the whole latch mechanism.

-After market stereo/CD/MP3 player and speakers. Pretty good. Better than stock. (Not hard to do)

-Autozone battery that I would replace before going more than hiking distance from a highway. It works fine, but I wouldn't trust it for more than 6 months or under load.

-There may be an electrical drain. I suspect it would be from a home installation of the stereo. PO has the 15 amp fuse for the horn and hazards pulled. I reinstalled it and the next day the battery was dead. When the battery was recharged I noticed the lights were on with the key off, so I'm not sure if I just left the lights on or if there is a drain. I haven't been tempted to fix it since I don't have a garage and have had a foot plus of snow on the side of my house all winter. I just pulled the fuse and drove it as-is.

-DS window motor is bad. I pulled the door panel and smeared white lithium in the tracks and lubed up all the gears etc. The window still gets stuck in the down position. Again, a gotcha from the PO. It works intermittently and happened to work on the test drive.

-I expect do-it yourself repairs would be under $1200. Pay for it at a mechanic and I think it's going to be more like $3000 plus rust repair.

-Suspension: I think the suspension has been replaced. It appears to be stock height but is significantly stiffer than the worn suspension on my '95. My plan was to get the OME 2.5'' lift on the '94 and swap the suspension from the '94 to the '95.

I owe $6000 on it. Every payment I make I can and will come down on the price a little. I need to eliminate the payment and insurance from my budget, so I'll trade it in on a cold, snowy night if I don't sell it outright.

I'll check back here daily until it's sold or I trade it.

South Weber

Didn't this truck come from South Weber? If so I looked at it when it was for sale from the PO.

Why yes it did. These are his pics. What are your thoughts on it?

I think your asking price is very fair and your report is more than honest. The truck was a perfect project truck for someone looking to get into an 80 without breaking the bank. It needs a little TLC but nothing to major.

Thanks for the feedback! If I still had my previous job with 2 months of vacation this year I wouldn't be selling it. I think putting the money mentioned above in to it brings it to high book value and is not wasted. It really is a pretty good truck, just not treated great previously.

By the way, the birfs make no noise, not under load, at full turn, or any time. They are full and the grease looks good. I baselined the differential fluids and transmission fluid when I bought it. There were normal shavings on the magnet.

I'll throw in the Slee center diff lock switch for free! It's not installed yet.

So, Zero feedback from anyone interested. Am I being too honest? Should I let a buyer discover all this on his own? Asking too much? Nobody wants a Locked '94 with fixable issues and a good engine, tranny, and interior? 1 month selling time too short? A little rust scaring people off? What is it? It might be worth it to me to fix the scary parts before offering it up again. I have decided to not trade it in right away but to try to sell it on my own a little longer.

Please give me some feedback!
