Hey so I bought the vehicle with an aftermarket touch screen radio (in japanese) but when the alternator belt blew the fuse blew to it as well. So I found the fuse - it's one of those 2 fuse systems but it was a 3 amp fuse next to a 30? I only had a 4 amp fuse and as soon as I replaced it it blew again... This is the fuse for the radio and the clock. The sticker on the back of the fuse box panel says 10A for radio but I don't want to burn a wire in case it's wrong because it doesn't really seem to match what the actual fuse box looks like.

Anyways do any of you guys know what fuse is supposed to go there in this gen prado?

The small fuse is for the radio station memory & clock as you say, it shouldn't pull 4A+. I'd pull the radio & check the wiring in behind - chances are whoever installed it made a mess & you do have a partial short or they've powered something else off that circuit. Radio installs are quite often a showcase of DSPO electrical ineptitude.

Cheers

I did pull it and look around everything and couldn't find anything. It's on an aftermarket harness too so that doesn't help... I feel like it's powering the entire touchscreen nav/radio system (plus it has 2 aftermarket speakers). You think running a 10A fuse is risky at all? I honestly have little to no electrical knowledge... don't want to burn the truck down.

Edit: To be clear when the 3A fuse blew the whole system had no power - touchscreen interface/radio + clock

I'd wire it properly just so it didn't annoy me :D You may not burn the truck down but it is unlikely to be a reliable power feed. Does the stereo stay on with the key off? My clock has permanent 12V then ACC power to light it up (not sure which circuits it's on, KZJ wiring may have got a little more complicated) Landcruiser wiring isn't usually too bad though so I'd find the proper radio feed & use that, check the wire colours at the fuse box & see if you can find them behind the radio.

No stereo doesn't stay on with the key off, just on ACC power. I'll pull it apart again and see if I can find the issue.... It's strange because the first few days I had it it ran fine on the 3A fuse and it blew as soon as the alternator belt went... strange

Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.
