These two colors are in the running.

This one is 6H9, an OG Toyota color. Look great on 40s. Not sure how it might translate to an 80.

Here is a picture of an 80 in a different but similar green for an idea.

I have titanium wheel inbound too so keep that in mind.

And finally, this color. A color I think is quite boring, but complements anything. It’s quite boring, but striking too. That could the Porsche it’s sitting on.

I like the 6H9 Olive Green as it’s retro Toyota and unique. I also really like the Porsche Chalk in that the contrast of the Delta VS gear and titanium wheels would look great with that color scheme.

What say you, my fellow interweb deviants?

I forgot. What color is your LC currently? I do like the green on the 40, but not a fan on the 80. Both of my cruisers are white, so I'm leaning in that direction.

Isn't there a saying like "if it ain't white" 😅 😋

Coming from a black guy …🤣🤣

My 80 is emerald green currently. I felt the same about the pukey looking olive green, but it’s growing on me.

that chalk is sexy. Idk why. It’s plain but sexy.

Go with white or dune beige brother. Both colors are timeless, age well and hide crud. I haven’t washed my bright white daily driver dodge/Cummins fir two months. People just don’t know exactly what shade of white it is. My 80 has a custom tinted white Monstaliner coating on it. It’s a combo of the original 045 white and mostly Toyota pure white. I got it really close so you can’t tell the door jams from the exterior but it was mistake doing a custom blend bc now I can’t match it to do repairs where I beat the bedliner off. Oh well, my rig is an off road machine and will never be pretty anyway.

That’s +2 for the Porsche chalk and 0 for the 6H9. I’m leaning toward the timeless look as well, Steve. We will see.

I’m just sticking with the emerald green because that’s what both of mine are and apparently Toyota management directed that 7.2 million FZJ80s be done in green and then split the other colors between 27 remaining trucks.

My vote is for the white (unless you want to look at some of the past Ferrari greys) 😉

You know what color mine is.

Go with that and you'll never go back.

And YOU repainted yours emerald green and did a damn good job.

Thanks man, it’s warm here, and I have scotch!

Yeah, we have a few HBs near me. I bought some engine stands and an engine hoist from there. Pretty neat store; it was my first time visiting. Everything is made in China.

Come on over, I’ll supply the food and booze!
What's the quality like? Gonna need both myself pretty soon...

So far my engine block hasn’t fallen off and killed me. Quality seems fine.

I’ll let you know if I die.

You reminded me of a 327 I built for a 69 FJ40 back in about 1992. I was living in a townhouse with a single stall garage. I rolled the engine stand out of the garage and onto the community asphalt to torque the rocker arms on to their studs in the sunshine. Anyway, when I went to roll it back inside a wheel caught a crack in the asphalt and the engine toppled over driving a rocker arm stud clean into the asphalt. At that point I didn’t care so much about the condition of engine as I was wondering how I would right it. I’m not big but I was solid as a rock so I squated down and picked up that small block 327 and righted the stand back onto its wheels. I don’t know if I could do that today.

Is it weird that I’m curiously aroused by this story? Because I am.

Reason I ask is, I see these costing double and triple from brands like OTC, and was just wondering whether there's any practical difference for the occasional user.

I felt the same as you did. I like to buy quality. Buy once, cry once. I bought this stand and hoist because it was recommended by several people on this forum. Some of whom I trust (maybe I shouldn’t :flipoff2: ). I think for guys like me, who don’t wrench for a living, these HF tools are just the ticket.

To bring in some continuity and begin to land this bitch, I’ll just say that I’m not only as solid as I was in 1992, I’m bigger and badder. The best part is that I’m more wise so no longer do I spend time prying rocker arm studs with 300 pounds atop them from asphalt parking lots. Read this as many times as you please.

I have a hobo freight hoist and stand. Both have been used to pull probably 10 engines. My lightning motor was on my stand for months.

Yeah; I'm thinking to get a two-ton crane, one-ton stand and then never come close to half the rated weight on either. With the stand--anyone have any thoughts on one leg in line with the support post vs two legs offset?

@jaymar ,
I don't have experience with the two-pronged engine stands, but I have two harbor freight ones rated for 1,000 lbs. These are the only ones I've ever experienced, and with that comes my ignorance, but I'll share my experience thus far.
Pros
- It is sturdy. I can move it around and feel confident that it won't tip (as long as your shop floor is clean-see below)
- It is cheap AF. I bought both on sale for $150 combined. Both!
- It is easy to assemble; it took me 10 min.
- Was recommended by an experienced stud mechanic @BILT4ME

Cons
- I don't like the wheels; they are small and cumbersome. They catch on debris and do not facilitate the maneuverability of the stand, especially with the engine installed.
- It is difficult to unpin the anchor that locks the engine from rotating. I have to unpin it to turn the engine on the stand, and every time I have to unpin it, it is a fight.

Overall, IDGAF. It is a means to an end, and I will use this setup at least once more in my life and probably sell all of it for $69.
