Have a friend with a real clean, I mean clean 4runner that popped a head gasket, I got him another motor, but he doesn't want to do the swap. His words I'm 65 years old and this looks like a headache, anyone looking for a clean first gen runner he wants 2500$ for it with the spare motor. I will post some pix later this is a clean garaged truck out of the Bay Area , I would buy it but I need another project like a hole in the head. PM me or give me a call if you are interested.

Definitely looks like a great project for someone.. Even a first car for a teenage it would be nice, get to know the vehicle by replacing the engine and then drive it for a number of years.

^^^That's why I would skip the 3.slow and put a 3.4l in it's place. Body lift or hood scoop is required, but it is a much, much better motor. And the best part is that it bolts in place of the 3.0 (same block/lower end).
