Hey Guys,

Winter is just around the corner here in CO. I have a 91 Corolla, that the heater never gets warm in the winter. With a little one riding in the car occasionally I would like to fix the issue if I can. The car has 130K, just a commuter car.

Any thoughts on where to start?

Thanks!

Thermostat? Maybe needs a good flush. I know the cruisers have a O-ring inside the thermostat housing without it the car(heater) will never get hot... Now I do not know if a Corolla has such a thing but it is a start along with that flush.

Have someone look at the heater valve (attached to one of the coolant hoses that enter the firewall) and move the cold-hot selector inside the car to see if the selector switch is still hooked up. The cable may have broken or come unhooked behind the heater control panel.
Also make sure the coolant is all the way topped off.
If the cable that goes to the heater valve is disconnected you can figure out which way it should pull and move it manually to get some heat.
