One of my buddies is unloading his 91. It has 240k. It is pretty good shape. He has driven it the last 90k and he is not hard at all on his cars. No leaks, no rust. He thinks he had dealer put on new rotors and brakes and repack wheelbearings not too long ago. He is looking up paperwork on that. It does burn a little oil. About 1 qt in 3000 miles. Should I worry about that? He will sell it to me for $2000.

Thanks,
Bill

Mine has used that amount ever since I bought it at 100k miles. Never got any worse; never caused any issues.

Same here, 1-2 qt./3,000 mi., unless we're wheeling it hard, then it seems to use more.

no burning in my 92, but it leaks a ~1/2 qt every 3,000. Hmmm... Are you sure its burning it and not leaking it from the rear main. Check the front sway bar. Prolly oil soaked.

He parks it in his garage and never sees oil stains. So I dont think leaking is the issue.

Bill,

I had a 91 with about the same mileage and from your description this one is much nicer. I would be all over an FJ80 at $2000 even if it was beat. That is a good deal. I know couldn't pass it up.

I agree. This sounds like a screaming deal. I wouldn't worry too much about the oil consumption.
