90 Camry Front Struts

Hope someone will provide a good suggestion. I know, I have to replace both front struts (they are very hard when you press). Never done it before. Is that something i should do, or take it to a shop and let them do the job. Just for heck of it, I took it to a Firestone Store and asked them for an estimate of replacing both front struts and WOW, an estimate came to $817.00 dollars.

O'Reillys has monroe brand for around 65bux ea. plus you can rent the compressor tool also....
