My brother in law is selling his FJ62. Wondering your opinions on the price. The miles are high, but the body and extras look pretty good. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't go for that on this board, but judging from prices on ebay, autotrader and other listings, it seems this might sell for close to that. Just trying to help him get a better gauge on what is a realistic asking price.

I think it is. He will most likely have to wait for the right buyer. Generally, it seems the 62s go for a lower price than the 60s. One thing sellers have to remember, is they are competing against 80 series. One must really want a 60/62 over an 80. And, if you factor in the WAF, the 80 almost always wins.
That seems like a lot in the ad. It does look like a nice truck. If he wants to sell quickly, it's a $3000-$3500 truck. If he's willing to wait, maybe $5000. The miles are very high and that automatically hurts the value some. Plus, a buyer would basically have to budget for a new tranny, since that's near the limit that they seem to go.
I just bought an FJ62 and looked at a bunch as a reference, and got a stocker with 117K for $2000. I saw them from $1500-$8000 but there are a lot of folks who think these trucks have more value than they do. Two years ago it would have been much easier to sell at a premium price. Now, not so much.
Anyway, good luck, and I hope he gets the best possible price.
Thanks for the input guys. It is a really nice truck but I think with the fuel prices and the 80's coming down in price as well it might be a tough sell. I don't know that he's really in a hurry to get rid of it so he can wait for the right buyer to come along. I tried to talk him in to selling me the ARB and Kaymar but he wouldn't go for it b/c it will sell much better with those on there.
Maybe, maybe not. He might be able to make more money selling those separately-unless you're expecting to rob him. Nice looking truck. Heck, the lift and bumpers alone are worth 3K or more off the shelf. I would expect to get 5K for it.
Yep, overpriced. Also, as others have said, I believe most buyers are looking at the 60 or 80 and passing over the 62 these days. Reasoning is that if you want a bare bones/manual tranny go with the 60 and if you want automatic/electric windows etc you might as well get an 80 for the same $ (and you have seen the prices of them DROP). Best of luck.
