84' Mini Truck

I have been looking for a front solid axel truck for a while for my disc conversion on my FJ40. I found a local guy with an '84 truck that runs and drives. He wants $500 for it. The box is rusted all to hell but other than that it seems solid. If I buy it and take the parts out that I need is there anything else on that thing that would help me recoup my costs?

if it's got the 22RE motor, most of the rest of the truck is useful....tranny, t-case, cab, more....not a bad price IMO.

(if it were me, I'd wheel it...lol)

It has the 22R motor and it runs good except it sounds like it has some sort of vacuum leak. not sure. never worked on one before. it runs good when cold but when it comes up to operating temp it runs really rough. like the choke is on or something. any ideas?

Woody, took your word for it and decided to pick it up for a off-road beater. that way when a friend wants to go wheeling with me I have an extra. Picking it up tonight for $400. Everything works, new tires, mater cylinder, and brakes. not bad

But now you got to find another for the disc brakes... but at least you have started a collection.

When it warms up & "runs bad" does it still idle ok? My old 20r would run ok when cold, but when it warmed up it would idle ok, but fall on its face when you pushed the gas pedal.

Turned out to be just the accelerator pump. $5 fix, and my brother has been driving it for a year with no other problems...
