It may be a 60 thing with the loose steering. My brothers wanders a couple inches as well. Funny thing is, my home-made power steering on the 40 with 38" tires is tighter than his factory stuff on the road. Guess it could have something to do with 20 year old stuff versus my new stuff though.

Well yours has been in a garage dry rotting the tires off, so they should be in as good of shape as mine.

I have wheeled mine since building it. Even had it airborne a couple times. How many of you on here can say that.:grinpimp:

My point is that a lot of people complain about lifts, tires, wear etc. causing there steering to suck. If it is set up right and is in new working order, you can drive a 40 lifted 7"s with unbalanced 38" Swampers to Wilmington with one finger on the wheel with no problem.

P.S. Your mind tricks to get me to finish my truck will not make me move any faster.

oh and for the record...the FJ60 was a hunting rig, camping rig and daily driver for past 25 years...he did not garage it until 2 years ago and then it was still driven about half a mile in 4LO down a ravine, through a creek, up another ravine back to the Saluda River a few times a month when they were up at property. :D :D

I am going to adjust the steering ball joints as glen showed me....and then last thing is try the box....it is within max allowable but I wanted a little tighter.

Dont get your :princess:panties twisted...just get the rig fixed and start wearing the big boy pants again. :D :D

My work here is done! :):grinpimp::hillbilly:

Well, these things take time when you decide to build them instead buy them.

I might be having an engine drop party the 11th so all these concerned parties can show up and lend a hand.

I had the drag link replaced on the 4runner after sloppy steering and it seemed to fix it. Maybe that's all it is?! Great looking rig. we had a good time at GSMTR. Missed you guys.

Well thumbs up for Sparks. Just had my first order experience with Jamie using the club discount. The guy at the counter quoted me $38 for spring pins. Then Jamie told me retail was $35.55, and he would knock 25% off that. With tax they were $26 a piece. Just goes to show you that parts counters charge even higher than retail.

Thanks Brock for the hookup.

Now go buy some more parts for your cruisers and bolt them on. Oh wait, you even need Glen to bolt them on for you.:D

Jeremy

I will gladly take those tires. They are better than what I got now so I appreciate that very much. This membership sure does have some great benefits! Your not such a bad guy after all..don't let anybody tell you different.

Found out today it has a BDS 2.5 inch suspension lift. They no longer make it so not sure how much the Lifetime Warranty will help me if a spring breaks. It appears to be their Med-Heavy kit but going to contact them myself to find out.

Also, found one of the headlights is not adjustable as something is broke.....I found out as I am going to upgrade wiring harness for lights and convert the sealed beams to H-4 headlights. I will be taking the headlight assemblies apart this weekend to determine which needs replacing and which part. From looking at parts book only the HOUSING (81105 and 81106) for both sides is something that is a big deal as they are almost $120 each from local dealership. The other part is the RING (81113 and 81153) that actually has the lamp mounted to it and moves depending on screw adjustment and the tension in spring. It is only $39... So may be making a parts call to the club and community if it is in fact the HOUSING that is damaged. LOL

Ordered center console today to install this weekend or next week when it arrives...and I adjusted the steering a little but need larger screwdriver for ball joint adjustment. Guess I am going to Northern Tools this weekend for a big honking flat bladed one. LOL

Brock, there is a 84 60 at the salvage yard 1 block from the shop, It is a very rusty vehicle but is is pretty complete. May be the headlight buckets are possibly salvagable or maybe the parts are there to get yours adjustable.
My uncle owns the salvage yard but you may not want to mention my name as the price may increase.LOL
On another note, Mike that has the red 60 who was at the HAMON called and left me a message about a P/S pulley for a 60 and i just remembered this as i was typing:doh:. I'll call Mike tomorrow and tell him about the possible P/S Pulley from this salvage vehicle.
