I am new to LC's and have some questions about a possible buy. There is an 84 with 25k miles on a rebuilt engine that looks stock besides that. Haven't called on it yet, it is just sitting in a parking lot with a sign. Looks good, very little rust, the interior isn't shredded and it looks like dual deck CD players. They are asking $4800 obo, but this seems a little high since an 86 books for $2600. Is it really worth what they are asking if stock? I am just looking for something relatively cheap to match my 80 toy truck that could crap out any day.

How bad is the straight six on gas? Are they all sixes?

I searched the FS forum and there are two with mods for 3k and 3600 respectively. Thanks for any assistance.

search on this forum for the ?'s you asked. price seems to depend on rust (or at least that can be the big killer) Prices run the gammot. On most cars that are older have you ever paid attention to the book value? It never makes sense.

Good luck and get ready for everyone to ask for pics.

vehicle price

I recently bought an 86 with a blown engine for$250 that was nice otherwise. However, when you factor in a total motor rebuild, new clutch kit, exahust pipe, power steering pump, water pump, all new hoses, desmogging the engine, carb and distributor rebuild by Jim C., new Alpine CD player, 5 new BFG 33X9.5 ATs etc, the money easily ran up to the $4.5K. So, the price of the one you are looking at could be justified. If you were looking at my rig for that price it would be a screaming deal.

Well I went to get the phone number and it was gone. My roommate suggested it could have been moved back to its home because of New Years and the risk of vandalism. Either way I'm not sure I want to spend that much right now on something so old with no warranty, justified or not. Beings as I will be moving in 6-7 months it would be nice to have a vehicle that is guaranteed relible. I would still love to get an LC, I just don't think it will be right now. Got some good info from here though so I will stick around.

I think $4800 is somewhat expensive.
And if possible, try to buy 86-87 FJ60 because it might make you easy for future tranny swapping to H55F.

Oh, Min Seok
