G'day folks, I've recently scored an 82 Fj Troopy with the 2F petrol motor and 4 speed box. She undergoing a major restoration. Any info or ideas would be appreciated. The body is very sound appart from a front guard and bonnet which I have fiberglass replacements. New glass rubbers, door seals, door cards and a respray are on the cards. I'm told the 2F petrol motor is quite tough and mine has only just hit 200,000 ks. Has anyone turbo charged this motor? Also I need a little mor info on putting a fairey overdrive on the box and a place to find one. Cheers, I'll upload some pics before I get started and progress pics along the way

Congrats on the new truck; I wish we could get Troopies over here. The 2F is a great petrol motor but It's a long-stroke (under-square), low-rev torquey tractor motor, not a racehorse. I've never seen one with a turbo, but not to say that it couldn't be done with enough money and time. You'll get lots more discussion over in the 40-series forum too by the way: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/

Thanks mate, I've reposted over on the other forum. I found one turbo charged 2F. It looked like a quick job but the results sounded great. They used the Garrett T3 from a 33/32 skyline. A good tough turbo.

There's a bloke down in Vic [I think] that turboed his 2F with great results according to his write up. THink it was in a troopy too from memory.

Try '2F turbo' in the search function.

Welcome.
