Anyone know anything about this 40? I'm in Alabama but I've been checking it out on c-list and speaking to the owner but it's hard to see things through photos. Any info would be appreciated! Original 1981 FJ40

Haven't looked at it in person. I don't know if I can get out to look at it this week, but if I can I'll take a look. I like it because it's original and unfxxxed with (other than the desmog). Being a square bezel truck, it's obviously the most awesome, but it's the thinnest metal of all of them so it's going to have cancer somewhere. You can see a hole in one picture.
If you want a project to flip, the late stock trucks seem to bring the most money. Or if you want a driver to work on, this looks pretty good. If you're wanting to go rock crawling, I'd keep looking.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm mainly looking for a complete solid driver that can be driven a few times a week. No plans to ever sell it. A little sheet metal rust here and there is no issue..... as long as the frame is solid. Any serious off-roading would be done in my 80.

Pretty rough for $15K, but maybe that is what they are going for these days, I don't know. Besides the rust and ripped upholstery, no air cleaner? No outside mirrors? Looks like it might need some work to be a driver. It's a long way for me to go look at; sorry.
