Hey there- new 100-series owner here, I used to have an 80-series which you might have read about here: Trip Report: Death Valley and a Wrecked 80...

It's only been a few months, but we decided we were ready for another adventure rig. Money's been tight so I had to let go of my '67 El Camino project to expedite the project. Unfortunate, but it just didn't make sense to have a car whose sole purpose was cruising. Another Land Cruiser just made sense from a utility and family standpoint. That and my buddy's dad had two 100-series in his stable and his wife told him one had to go.

... and the come up! 2001, 130k miles, River Rock Green Mica. Neat fact: this car was exported to Nicaragua where it was stored at the PO's vacation home for a year. He has old diesel Land Cruisers that he used on his land, but preferred the 100-series to drive around in whenever he visited. It spent most of that time in storage, but cool nonetheless.

Couple days in, but I immediately went at it: baselined, removed the running boards, swapped the 18s for some LX470 16's, painted gunmetal and threw on 33s KO2s. New heater T's are in transit and will be replaced once I get em.

Gassing up on our way to the Old Dale Mining District in Joshua Tree. Truth be told it was a little eerie at first, same tan interior with that familiar Toyota leather smell. We were OK, but the doggo definitely had some anxiety/ptsd from the accident.

Super pleased with the 100 series and really impressed with how capable this rig is stock! We went on the Brooklyn Mine Trail not knowing how technical it would be, but honestly this thing breezed right through it. I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked, but I've got more trips and mods planned ahead. Stoked to be back.

Not so much stoke.

Here's the '67 for anyone interested. It wasn't a concourse restoration by any means (photography does wonders) but the body was pretty clean and it was a solid 'driver'. We'll end up with another classic later down the line...

Sorry to hear about the 80 (and even more about the El Camino!). But you’ve found your way into a sweetheart deal of a 100. Things are looking up! I really liked my 80, but my 100 with OME mediums and 33” Coopers is so much more bang for the buck. It’s more fun in pretty much every way. More practical too.

Are you re-thinking roof rack loads? I’ve never been a big fan of them myself, but they have a useful side. I almost prefer a good offroad trailer, but they bring their own set of issues.

Congrats on the new rig. I look forward to watching you build it up and post more travel pics. The DV trip report was great right up until it wasn’t. I’m especially glad to hear about your dog. I travel with two and they are always harnessed in.

Love the El Camino! Bummer about the 80. And congrats on the "new" 100

Sorry to hear about your 80, but glad everyone was okay! Very nice looking 100 as well, they are very capable rigs! I love my LX, and I switched over from the AHC to a 3" OME heavy duty suspension kit, and I haven't looked back! Enjoy the new ride, and look forward to watching the progress on your land cruiser!

Looks great, man. I also went from an 80 to a 100 and I love it.

also, I believe someone said you are an old la fixed member? same here. did we just become best friends?

Welcome to the 100 section. Sorry about your 80, but glad ya'll are all ok.

Wow that story about your 80 is INSANE. You have some awesome posts, thanks for sharing your Land Cruiser experiences with us, even the life-threatening ones! Glad you've moved into another Cruiser.
