I am on the hunt for a confirmed working OEM radio from or for a 1997 Landcruiser 80 series. It needs to be security unlocked or a verified security code provided.

thank you all

Kicking this up — I did get a radio from someone but the CD does not work — Looking for one that does, thank you!

Good luck with the search. If it helps at all, I got my CD player working by cleaning the lens with isopropyl alcohol and greasing the tracks the laser rides along. Disassembly was only a matter of removing the top panel.

I will do that and report back if it fixes the issue -- as of now the disc loads..... it thinks about doing something, then spits it out. Same with multiple discs.

Much appreciated!!

I do not have any 80.series radio. Possibly have an early 80 that is two single DIN together and does not have an external amplifier. I remember the CD player skips. I do have a number of single DIN head units and CD add on. What I would suggest is trying removing the cover and trying it. Not sure the plugs would allow it to be top area visible. Probably need to ground the chassis to get to operate. Once the CD is installed see if it spins. My latest multi CD changer I bought will except the CD in all six slot. But once I push the CD button the screen will show the slot the CD is in than after a few seconds turns the radio off. I tried this with the cover off and see the CD does not spin. I tried to physically turn the CD. It starts to spin slowly and is noisy and still shuts the radio off. Figure the drive motor is bad. I have five of these single DIN CD changers. Only on worked
The rest just refunded the money. They is a repair service listed on eBay but those are $250 plus shipping. If you determine the drive motor bad probably not worth repairing at this point. I have zero interest in downloading music and sticking with CDs which I have a huge collection. Probably an age thing.

My last trip to Utah / Canyon lands I rotated through a wallet of CDs the whole trip & it was awesome -- iPod backup wasn't used! Anyway yea, for this new project I'm looking to stick with a factory setup and keen to try to get one to work. Per above recommendations I'm going to look at the internals and see if there is some cleaning to be done, probably lots of dust in there ( hoping it's that simple ) fingers crossed. A shout out to two other members ( one on MUD and one in my local Cruiser group ) who did send me units that worked with the caveat that the CD players were not really up to par....... so I knew this going in that something would be screwy with the CD.

Thanks for your input!

The transistors that drive the focus/tracking coils can get weak over time also but I would start with a good cleaning as suggested.
