Soooo my buddy blew the motor on his '96. Not sure if he threw a rod or what.
Either way, anyone put a motor in lately? What's it gonna cost him to have someone do it?
He is not in any position to put one in himself.

Next question, what's a 220K 80 with both lockers and a bad motor worth?

My dream vehicle would be a V8-powered 80.

Wouldn't it be easier to put on a solid front axle and find a FF rear for a 100-series?

I'm kinda thinking about that... Other than the motor, it's a pretty tight rig for 220K

The scrap guy in cortez quoted $600 for it. It'd be a shame if it went that way, but it may

Educate me here, if you throw a rod, do you destroy the lower end automatically? Our newest member now has two engines and the bottom end is compatible to a '96.

I will buy it right now for $650. Do not let him scrap it!!!!

Yea I have a block and more for the bottom end. Extra oil pans etc. I would not scrap it. Especially if you don't know what is "blown". I don't know much but it's not hard to tear down and investigate. If you find its something simple great if not then at least you tried. Part it out ...dibs on axles;)

Thanks guys. I'll probably head up and have a look at it this weekend.
Jeremy, do you want to part with your block? PM me details if so

I will, but unfortunately I got a voice mail from machine shop that didn't sound good. They are not open today and I wont know until Monday. I doubt there's a problem with the block they probably called about a valve or something small but who knows. I will let you know Monday, if I can part with it.

Jeremy thanks. My buddy is pretty up in the air so just let me know if you get to a point where you're getting rid of the block.
Looking like this things gonna get parted out or become a transplant candidate

Ok, I heard from the shop and my issue was the crank shaft was damaged so I took them the less damaged one. I will definitely be willing to give up the other block for very little but it wont have a crankshaft. Is his vehicle in Cortez area? If he does decide to part out I need a few things as well....but if he decides to fix it PM me with a list of things he needs I have a bunch on the floor right now in the garage.
