I was trying to remember the day for the Deer Valley run, but not sure which day it was in August. Trying to get things organized so I can take a day or two off before then for a longer weekend. Is there a particular spot where everyone would meet up?

Jon...
That will be a GREAT run for you. Youll enjoy it. We usually meet at Woodfords, or the AM/ PM gas station in Gardenerville.
I wish my rig were running!!!!

Ah well. That is what you get with a custom build I guess.

Cool.

But, what day was it going to be on ?

sweet!

putting in for leaving early from work the Friday before. Just got my new exhaust done today. Had a broken exhaust mount and was ratting around a bit. Got 3" pipe with some new cats & muffler.

On another note, being that I am pretty much a rookie when it comes to all of this, is there a list of parts or stuff I should have when going on trails? I have the normal oil, water, filter, etc. but no parts like driveshaft and things like that.

coming up this weekend for the Sportsman Warehouse shindig 8-) Gotta support the local guys.

See you guys soon.

My breakage last time was a tail light, the rest was scratches and a dent from a tree. It wasn't a hard-core trail as far as challenges go, but it is pretty tight in the trees. If I come, I'll likely bring a saw in case we have to move a downed tree to get the whale through.

You know your rig better than anyone, so spares and tools are your choice. The water was pretty shallow last time, now this time of year it shouldn't be too deep. Otherwise it's a break free trail if you take it easy and have a good spotter.

Not entirely true...
Spare tire definitely.
Birf just to be safe. and in my case...Ill always carry a spare pittman arm (courtesy of THIS trail).

I think this trail is more challenging that most give it credit for. However, Its the first trail that I had ever run anything more than a fire road and really opened my eyes to 4 wheeling as what I know it today as...

my point...dont underestimate it till you are on your way home.

Thats just me though.

I doubt he will break an 80 birf on Deer Valley. The 80 series birfs are massive.

A spare tire and/or a plug kit is a good idea anywhere.

Will; You don't like my tree falling equipment? BTW did that leave a scar?

Thanks guys.

I do have a spare tire, but no plug kit. That's going to be something I should look into. I have a hi lift jack. I'll get some tools together too. I guess as time goes by, you learn what you need and what you don't. I will start looking around for some birfields & some driveshafts as well.

I saw on the news that there's a fire near near the southern trail. Anyone know were it's at?

Just a small one, but it gives me street creds.....

I would call a plug kit, or at least a good spare mandatory on that trail. Tree roots and downed trees with broken limb stubs have a nasty habit of biting you when you least expect it..

RayJon and I ran this trail a week and a half ago. We started at the Hermit Valley and proceeded toward Blue Lakes. Water is still pretty deep. My 80 still has stock tires and stock springs and did pretty well. But it wasn't always easy.

Question for you guys...Where do you plan to start? I am coming from the other side, and would love to meet you at the trailhead. But I need to know which one.

We meet at Woodfords but we go in at Hermit Valley.

We use HAM 146.460 and CB CH3.

I received my Iron Pig skid plate yesterday, going to install it this weekend along with the Slee AC dryer skid plate too.

I am looking forward to this trip. Think its going to be fun, well I hope so. Will be my first trip (other than Hollister Hills) in the 80.

SFM12, I hope you can make it along, would be great to see another 80 series on the trail with us.

Jon

Anyone do this run!?

Post up bitches!

:flipoff2:

Umm,

It's only the 16th...

Run isn't until the 28th. Then again, I am just waking up and can't see straight yet.
