8/21/10 Picnic at Davis Creek

What:
This will be a pot luck picnic, there will be a BBQ available for cooking. Bring your own main course, drinks, and a side dish to share.

Where:
We will be in the Day use area. The Club banner will be removed from mothballs for the event so look for it.

For those of you unfamiliar with Davis Creek it is located south of Reno on Old 395 about 9.5 miles from the intersection of US395 and SR431(Mt Rose HWY). The park is well shaded with tons of places for the kids to explore. As you enter the park go straight and follow the signs for the day use area.

When:
Saturday Aug 21, 2010. I plan to start the coals around 11'ish. The day use area closes at sunset.

Optional Camping:
If anybody is interested in camping, individual camp sites are available adjacent to the day use area for $20/night ($5 for extra vehicles and $1 for pets). Both Tent and RV(no hook-ups) campsites are available.

We did a recon mission to Davis Creek yesterday. There is a nice group of tables that will be in the shade by mid day. I'll hike over there before they open the gates and stake our claim. There should be plenty of room for 20+ people.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it. Would have been nice to see everyone there. Perhaps next year. I don't want to take too much time off as there are still trips coming up that I would like to do. Hope everyone has a great time though.

Great time and great turn out!
It was nice to meet the women and families behind the men of the club. It sure takes a special woman to put up with US!
There was food-a-plenty.
The Chicago clan had a great 2 days camping out there, and the Rusty's came over to our camp in the eves for cocktails and camp fire conversation. They caught me in the middle of trying to start a fire with sticks...I WILL ACCOMPLISH THAT one day!

Thanks to everyone for coming and the great grub.
It was nice to meet the wives and family.
Hope this becomes an annual thing.
