79 FJ40 interior lights wiring

How would you wiring in the interior light in the dash and under the dash in a 79 FJ40? The Painless harness does not have a wire for them. Also if anyone has a photo of the location of the under dash location that would be great.

Not sure on the wiring. On my old 79 they were controlled by the dimmer on the light switch. If you are using the 79 switch it should have the wire on it. This is a pic. of the under dash light. Its above the heat/fefrost lever. Pic. from my 74.

I'm using the 79 light switch, but I don't see how you would wire it. My diagram doesn't show a wire that would only turn on these lights...

They come on with the light switch. When its pulled for lights the the dash pad and under dash lights will be on. Do your gauge cluster lights work?

This is a complete re wire with painless. I think I see my problem. I did not know they came on with the dash lights and stayed on.
