I was near Cameron Village this morning and saw the fj40 that I spotted at REI onetime. One of the best looking 40s I have ever seen in person. The guy wants $20k for it. It is tan and appears to have a lift and about 35s or bigger tires. The wheels are white. I did not get the number. I will ride back by tonight and see if it is still there. I am in no way affiliated to this 40. I just spotted it and thought if someone had some bank to blow, this might be the way to go.

i will be meeting the gentleman today and post all info i find out on this truck as well as pictures. It seems to be in very good condition.

I just glanced at this 40 today. If that's a $20K 40, then the Cruiser market must be getting real stupid again.

It's OK, but not $20K OK, unless your a fool like I was 3 years ago buying from Vintage Offroad sight unseen.

There are rust bubbles on the outside of the tub and what appears to be line-X on the inside, which means it ain't gonna stop rusting. The interior is all original beyond the line-x and looks it's age with the appropriate worn holes. This is no restoration beyond a new paint job some time ago and whatever maintenance to keep it running, but nothing fancy. I could see a homebrew crossmember sticking way down below the T-case, but didn't really waste too much time with further investigation or even writing the number down.

I'd have to look at it a lot harder to even consider paying $10,000.00. For it's age it's not bad, but nowhwere near worth $20K given how much needs to be done, let alone correcting whatever jerryrigging has been done to it since 78.

Just wait until the speculators drive gas prices back up again this spring and summer, hurricane season, of course this "unexpected" cold air mass is giving them the excuse locally to adjust fuel prices.

These speculators must be running the Cruiser market now too. I guess maybe Toyota should start moving their sales prices up or down every day like the gas stations do.

Whatever the market will pay, right?

So I spoke with Justin this morning and I was given the following on the truck.

350 V8 engine
NV4500 Transmission
Factory axles with ARB Locker in rear
Still sprung under axle with 4" lift. 35" BFG M/T's
Front aussie style grille guard with winch
Truck was purchased restored and then conversion was completed

I have only driven by the truck and spoke with the owner. Luke has described the outside in more dpeth however i am meeting Justin tomorrow to thoroughly go through the truck i will post any information i come up with. I am not interested in the truck i just want to post information up for someone who may have an interest.
