Just wondering if there are any recommendations/suggestions as far as quality on reproduction window regulators for a 77 40. I see CCOT, SOR, FJ Depot carry them. Safe to assume NLA from Totota?

Thanks
Dave

I just went through both the driver and passenger side aftermarket regulators from Cruiser Corps and both failed on me. Both are being shipped back. The passenger side's package was labelled correctly but was for the driver's side. The driver's side won't keep the window up and constantly rolls down. Now I'm trying to source OEM or a reputable line.

Do you still have the old ones? I bet you could rebuild them to take out the slop in all the rivet connection/rollers. The flat coil spring might have room to loop it once more before hooking it up. If the tap is broke off, you can drill the end of the spring and rivet on a new hook. Old clocks/timers have that style of spring, my dad had shoe boxes of them.

The problem with my driver side original regulator was that the slotted pin that the spring wraps around broke off:

Make a new one. Drill and tap in a new stud or the old one. Hi temp silver solder, braze, weld. You might need to disable some of the assembly to get to it.

I understand. But I bet you know someone that has one and knows how to use it. Might need to add a thin backing plate as a stiffener.
