Today I was shopping for the gear oils today and pick up some mobil1 75w90 for the rigs as toyota recommend and i saw the mobil1 75w140 cost almost double the price of 75w90. Can i use 75w140 instead of 75w90? any benefit or down side for that?

FSM calls for 75-90. Use that.

The Chevron Delo SynGear 75W-90 is a bargain at AutoZone.

I wouldn't bother with Mobil 1 in the front and rear diffs. Just use cheaper stuff and change it more often. Put the Mobil 1 in your transfer case is my vote.

as far as weight. I replaced mine with 85W-140 last winter and didn't notice any negatives. the diffs seemed cooler but the truck definitely felt less peppy. I may switch back to the lighter stuff since I don't haul a trailer much.

75w90 unless you're trying to quiet down a loud lunchbox locker.

So you saw something more expensive on the shelf and you're just looking for an excuse to blow a few dollars? :flipoff2:

The way I understand it, "you get what you pay for", so twice the price = automatically twice the quality! :hillbilly:
