My HZJ75 75 series gearbox/transfer case has thrown a shaft out the back end and shattered the casing. I am looking for my cheapest option of replacing. I am wondering if buying a complete vehicle is a practicable option and weather i can buy a petrol wagon and would the gearbox/transfer case be interchangeable. So if anyone can give me information or advice on if these gearboxes would be interchangeable.

I hope I am posting this in the correct spot. Thanks Ramba.

What year 75? I know with the H55 gearbox and split case it is interchangeable if you swap the input shaft on the gearbox to the 1HZ shaft, different length/spline count. I have an H55 on my 97 troopie that is originally for a gasser that I swapped the shaft on and no problems.

For 98+ I don't know

phrogg4evr, It's a 93 model trayback landcruiser. I have never pulled a gear box down - how large a job is it to change the input shaft?

Hi Aussie 25 - Thanks for reply - we are central QLD - but can collect parts from East Coast or anywhere in between pretty easily. Where are parts located?? Thanks Ramba

Same drivetrain as mine, not too bad if you have all the tools, have to pull the front and rear bearings to drop the counter shaft in order to swap the shaft.. Get a copy of the FSM for the H55 and split case, pretty good directions to guide you.

Hopefully being in AUS, you will be able to source a good used box off a 1HZ powered cruiser, maybe even one with a complete split case;) I had to get a gas gear box because we cannot get the diesel one here in the USeasily or cheaply:meh:
