Do you have a title? If so please email me at rmatzell@aol.com I can not figure out how to send you a pm. thanks, Rob

Uuuuuummmmm. Hate to break it to you, but according to your pics in the drop box link, that's not a 40, it's a 60.... And more likely an '83-84 since the 60 wasn't built in '73-'74

Might get more interest if you change the title to reflect that, or is it the wrong drop box link?

That's no 60 lol. Not even close! And 60 were built 80 to 87. Thus is a 40

Ok, so I looked again. Someone has put a 60 body onto a 40 frame. Have not seem that before, I guess it threw me off.

No problem. Its not a 60 body tho :) I think its a mini truck, but weird none the less! Need parts?

I do need parts, I need the back end of a frame, but that frame is totally completely different from the frame on my 40... In fact, the only resemblance I see is the tranny and steering!

Have you read the VIN off the frame? Could it be a 55? I am definitely no expert, but something seems odd...

I say that because;

1) the rear end does not look like what I would expect a 40 frame to look like. It has a crossmember at the back with a tire hanging chain, just like a 60. Not sure that 40's ever stowed the tire under the back?
2)Unless the rear of the frame has been cut, it does not have space for mounting the 40 series tail lights
3) the shock mounting tube in the back is square
4) the shock mounts in the front look like the ones on my 60, not the ones on my 40
5) the front springs forward mount looks like my 60, further aft and not on the large frame gusset like a 40
6) the inside edge of the frame is capped, not open
7) the rear shaft looks a lot longer than the one on my 40

Now I just want to know because it's bugging me!

You are totally right on a lot of those points. The engine serial for the f series makes.it a 73_74 fj per.the registry on cool cruisers site, but ya, the other points are valid. But does that make it An fj55?

I'd check the serial number on the frame, the engine could be out of anything... Frame serial number on my 40 is at the very front, passenger side, outside, just behind the bumper gusset.

Lol could be...looks so factory. Too clean on the engine mounts. And who puts an f motor in anything lol

Thats probably a 55. It is definitely not a 40 frame. I am interested in the engine but shipping to Vegas is more than its worth I think. FYI here is a pic of a 73 40 frame.

Guessing a 74 model FJ55. The extra holes in the front frame horns are probably for the extensions brackets use on the FJ55s for mounting the stock PTO winch. That style spare tire carrier was used on FJ55. Four speed and late F155 with the improved oiling system were in 74s not 73s.
