Hey everyone, I have a swb mitsu montero that I'm swapping a diesel into. My transmission's syncros are going, so I was thinking about using the 2wd diesel transmission that came with the engine, that has 30,000 miles on it, and throwing a divorced t-case from a 720 in behind it. I have access to a very cheap one, and I'm trying to do this inexpensively. Just a few questions...

what is the reputation for this t-case? pretty tough?

what is the low range gearing on it?

Any clue if the flanges for the driveshafts are similar in size to the montero's?

does the shifter come right through the floor on the nissan t-case? or is there a linkage?

just looking for some thoughts on this. wondering if it is worth the hassle. i think it might be kind of cool...

It is a gear driven 2:1 tcase that has a direct lever action

Here is a link about it on Pirate:

I had a 720 when I was younger it took both me and my brother through getting our drivers lic and it survived us beating the ever loving hell out of that truck. I eventually traded her in when she was well north of 250k miles. The T-case never once needed any attention.

They are solid but limited by the 2:1 ratio. I ran two of them together for several years without issues.
