Life is Good...

Saw this on I-10 between Deming and Las Cruces yesterday. LHD even. How do I get one?

If you have enough money, anything is possible. I know of a 2009 76-series (4door) lhd diesel in cali, imported brand new. I believe the same guy brought in one of these utes, too. In Australia, they start at only AUD$61,000 for a cab/chassis turbo diesel with vinyl interior and 2 speaker radio, and get up to $70,000 for upper-trim level wagon or troopie with cloth and 4 speakers. What a bargain! I saw on ebay a 200-series turbo diesel, 2009 model, fully loaded asking $90,000!!

Diesel Rover Defenders are over $10k less than 70-series Cruisers in AU.

I believe that is a 78 series but I'm no expert on those. The front solid axle appears to be the same as an 80-Series. The rear leaf springs on that thing are HUGE.

These are the ones we saw in Japan. The rear leafs on the FF's were either 6 or 8 leaves--they were monster.

The 79's are the pickup.

The 76's are the 5 door semi-long wheelbase hard top. (10 people).

The 78's are the 3 door long wheel base hard top troop carriers (13 people/6people).

1FZ's are no longer in production for consumer vehicles. They are still being installed into forklifts in Europe and the Middle East (non-EFI versions) as well as marine applications.

The available engine for the 7x Series vehicles for export are:

1VD-FTE 4.5L Twin Turbo V8 Diesel
1UR-FE: 4.0L V8 Petrol
1GR-FE: 4.0L V6 Petrol
1HZ 4.2L I-6 Diesel

If you can distinguish what the license plate says that will give you the origin nation giving you a good idea of what powerplant it is running underneath.

I'm curious who makes that camper as well.

That is a cool rig and would be a pleasure to check it out in person. However, I'm having a hard time with the HUGE camper precariously perched on top of a rather puny platform!!

Here's a site I ran across that shows a few different Toyota models turned into "adventure" vehicles. Really nice stuff. To bad its all in Europe.
