Hi All,
I'm the proud owner of an '85 3B BJ73.
Approximately where on the factory gauge should the water temperature needle sit? Operating temperature for mine is 82*C, but opinions from 88*C owners will be just as helpful.
I'm aware it is not particularly accurate so I have an auxiliary gauge on the way.

The OEM gauges are notoriously inaccurate however both of mine set slightly below the "halfway" point regardless of ambient temperature. Where are you located?

I'm doing some testing at the moment to test what various positions mean on the stock gauge - 100*C is on the top white line. 82*C appears to me that it is slightly above halfway. I'll be doing some more testing tomorrow with a variable resistor to get a better idea exactly what temperatures equal what positions on the gauge.

Please post how you tested along with the results.
I have wondered if it's possible to add resistance to calibrate the gauge.
I also like this kind of stuff as a lab for my students.
Thanks.
