So I changed the FPR and the pulsation dapener. It was better but still had the same symptoms. Started thinking vent lines etc... all was well. On a whim, tried the test on the Charocole cannister. It was stopped up. Cleaned it and now all is fine.

Good work. You needed a new FPR anyway. 
How did you clean the charcoal cannister, just blow a little air into it? You must be in the running for the Iron Butt award if you are driving from GA to SD. What vehicle will you be running trails on when you get there?
