Why is there so much stuff attached to the thermostat housing?? I took me 2hrs to put in the new one. I felt like I was trying to rebuild the motor.

One more question. I couldn't get a new gasket, so I cut my own and sealed it with permatex, is this ok?

Dang 2 hours? what's funny is i changed mine yesterday as well and took about 30 minutes. Pretty simple to replace. As for the gasket did the dealership not have one? I would order one and still put it on there.

Hey notatreehugger,
I feel your pain. Some of the most basic stuff to do, I have spend hours doing...For example...The OIL FILTER ALONE took me 2 hours with 2 trips to the parts store...Who ever the moron was that put that damn thing on and WRENCHED it down was, I could have killed. I BUSTED on oil wrench, got a cap wrench (slipped), then went back and bought a heavy duty filter wrench...The filter was so MANGLED when I got the thing out, I actually LAUGED out loud when I saw the carnage...
EVERYTHING ive done on this rig has gone the same way.
