Well, my battery on my 62 goes dead every couple of months (after it has sat in the garage for a couple of weeks without being run). Needless to say, I just take the battery back to Wallymart and exchange it. Probably a ground or something draining it...

Anyway! I put a new battery in it today and went to start it. It starts fine, but I have to give it gas or it will stall and die. Thanks to the Cruiser-control (hand throttle), I pulled it out several clicks and voila, no more stalling issues... It drove around ok, I just kept the Cruiser-control out a bit for when I came to a stop. I would like to actually fix it though :).

I just replaced the FPR a few weeks ago with a new one from Cruiserdan, so hopefully it isn't that.

Any ideas??? :bang:

Always best to start with the easy stuff first, try a new fuel filter, it sounds like it is starving for fuel. also make sure you have line pressure from the fuel pump. good luck.

What is the voltage reading with and without a load? You obviously have a low amp draw. Have you tested for amp draw when the rig is shut down?

The stalling could be a separate issue but if you suspect fuel problems you will need a fuel pressure test.

Sounds like your cruiser sit around a lot. Try draining the tank completely and putting in fresh gas.

The truck seemed to drive ok other than the fact that it couldn't hold the idle, if I let off the gas pedal it would just basically die, no stuttering or hesitation. I drove it around for a while and it didn't seem to drive weird. The fuel filter is fairly new on it...

Any more ideas?

Try pulling for codes

Just wanted to throw a guess out there... Would a bad TPS make any sense?

I shall check the codes (probably will have to wait till the weekend). Will let you know the results, thanks for the feedback 88!

Codes

I finally pulled the codes and I got a code 51. So I'm guessing that points to the TPS? Where to go from here? Also, when I started it today, it idled fine and held it with no problem, no aid needed from the Cruiser control...
