Here is one for the experts:

When cold starting, car will start right up and idle where it should, about 1100-1200.

After about 30-45 seconds, I can hear a clunk, not loud, but definite. It sounds like a spring loaded flap or door opening.

This event does not change the idle speed or anything else. I am not even sure it happens with every start, but seems like it. Engine warms properly and and settles into idle at 600-650, as it should.

Since it doesn't seem to do anything, I haven't really investigated it. Out of sight out of mind. Or is it serious?

What gives?

I would like to know how to get it to idle lower than 1200 rpm's. If you find out why let me know.

Check your TPS, or replace it.....this is not uncommon...
