The turbulence on the top of the windshield of the 100 is a given for the abrupt transition from sloped windshield to flat top, but if you look at more modern vehicles, there's a smoother, more seamless transition as not to disturb the airflow (this often means less headroom for the driver). Main point is, the front cross bar isn't as hidden as well in the turbulence at the front of the roof rack than way back. At least the aerodynamics are still better than on the FJ cruiser.
