60 vs. 62 driveshaft

are the driveshafts between a 60 and 62 even close. i have to move my truck about 1 mile and my driveshaft is not ready? by friend has a 60 and an extra. will it fit and be safe enough to use?

Are you without both driveshafts, or just 1 (you post wasn't plural). You can just put it in 4hi and drive with the front.

I don't believe a 60 shaft will fit. The auto is longer IIRC.

the front is useless as the reason i have to move it is to get it to a driveway to replace a borken birf.

Do you have a front locker? Couldn't you put it in 4hi and just lock the 1 hub?

Does your friend with the other 60 have a tow strap? or even AAA

The '60 and '62 shafts are different lengths. The auto in the '62 is longer than the manual in the '60.

If it is a shaft from an early '60 the flange pattern is different too.

I think it depends on whether the donor 80 has the tranny with the spacer or not. The later trannies had the same length as the H55F and used the same drive shaft as the 62s, IIRC.

'course you could just MEASURE it.
