Yes, I know it has been discussed a million times but does anyone here want to share their opinion! I went to look at a 60 in tenn this weekend while i was there to visit friends but, of course the seller's circumstances were not compatible to check it out !! so now my search continues! Anyone know of any around?? All help will be much appreciated??
I had a 62 once, but my son could beat me in a race with his pedal truck, I put a V8 in it and it was tolerablem, but that kind of defeats the whole reason of buying a Toyota. I would get a 60 so you can shift.
Wheeling a wagon compared to a mini is night and day. A wagon is like hitting the trail in a 1 ton diesel truck compared to a mini. I like minis for off road.
How about a 60 wagon with propane and put a turbo (CT-26) on it, can you make that work Jim?
You really can not ask for much more than this one considering he is asking $5k. You should search the main classifieds on Mud. There is another nice one for sale in IN.
I've had a couple DD FJ60's and now a beater 62. I like features from both. For me the ultimate wagon would have a 2FE (2F with the 3FE head and EFI system on top) and a 5sp as definite features and then a nice collection of upgrades like OME suspension, ARB front bar, winch of some sort, ARB lockers, homemade sliders and rear bumper (with trimmed rockers and quarter panels), good tires (with diff gears to match the size) and nice aftermarket seats.
FWIW,
I kind of like my 62, Compared to my 91 and 92 fj 80's its a race car.
The 40 is quicker though.
If I could have found a decent shape 60 for the price I would have rather had a 60 but last november There was not a lot out there for 3k or less.
I agree on wheeling a wagon being a different ball game, My experience is from the other direction. I went from owning and wheeling an 80 series to a 40. The 40 is in a different league.
