OK gang, I now have acces to a trailer that will haul my 40 and sometimes 60 (to get it to the shop). How big should the straps and or chains be?

As much as I hate ratchet straps, I know they work the best. I need to know what size or rating to get.

Regular 2" ratchet strap will work fine, like you get at home depot

As big as you can get. When straping loads I alway overkill. You never know when some a-hole will cut you off or somthing. The last thing I want is to loose my cruiser off the trailer because my strap broke or came loose. I also set the ebrake and leave it in gear.

I always use chains and chain-binders. The trick I used towing my FJ55 from Utah to Nebraska was to air down the tires, chain it down as tight as I could, the re-air the tires. I checked the chains after about 20 miles, then again at 100. Never had a problem.

Ive used straps for short jaunts across town, but I prefer chain.

Might be saying something you already know but be careful of the brake lines behind the front axle housing...have seen & heard of people loading & straping down Cruisers & forgeting about the brake line-get to event or whereever & line has been pinched.

As far as straps-I think they are considered the 3" wide load straps around the axle is fine. Just check at fuel stops to make sure still taught. Oh yea...parking brake set.
