60 Headlight Covers(Reduced Price)

Here's a small run of a new design I came up with. Material is double 16ga steel with 16ga wire sammiched between. I wanted to come up with an easy no-hole drill install method so the covers are attached with screws and quick nuts to the outer plastic headlight housing. Quick nuts grab the inner diameter of the flange on the plastic housing. Installation is pretty simple but it is best to remove the plastic headlight housing, then re-install together. Of course to do this, you will have to also remove the front grille. I went ahead and blacked out everything while I was in there with paint. You don't need to mess with the headlight itself tho. I built a set for myself and they turned out good so this small lot is still up for improvements so let me know what you think. I have 5 pair, priced $40/pair shipped US or within reason. Includes mounting hardware and installation instructions. PM me if interested.

Here's a close up of the design. Top and bottom are notched so you can still use a screwdriver to adjust up/down settings of your headlight beam. The trim ring sits flush against the plastic housing, then the next ring with wire attaches to that and screws down tight.

Paint for now is simply a layer of primer with flat black. I wasn't sure what colors you guys would want so let me know what you think. Future plans will be powder coated for much more durable/thicker paint finish. I even messed around with some greys and tans but in the end i went flat black.

Up for comments/suggestions. Gracias!

I think these look great. I just passed on a set on ebay because they seemed flimsy. These dont.

thanks, i tried researching a bit to see what kind of prices i was up against but never came up with anything. what was the ebay price if you don't mind.

These look really well made. I had a cheapo set on my 60 for awhile, they were made with wire and had a convex shape to them. I took them off as I had two concerns:
1. That they interfered with light getting to the road (in the dark rainy PNW, you want all the light on the road you can get).
2. It seemed like the size of rocks typically thrown up off of paved highways was smaller than the openings, so they'd likely go right through.

The cheap covers looked cool - yours look fantastic and no doubt work awesome in some environments. Breaking an expensive headlamp lens sucks, so I would be open to using yours if there are some folks here who think my two concerns listed above are groundless.

Curious to hear peoples opinions on this.

yes, that's the issue because of course the smaller you go on the wire the less light will go thru. same issue applies with air flow on screen doors and such. thanks for the input. i've got my own powdercoat equipment, just wanted to try out the design 1st.

I can go $40/ea set shipped if anybody is interested. That's the lowest I can go on this run.

Sure, put me down for a set. I think they are great. Say, did you powder coat those headlight doors and front grill on that 60 in the picture? That is a good look, especially with that copper paint.

only rattle can flat black but thanks for the complement. you can't powdercoat plastic, it will melt in the oven:frown:

i'll pm you my paypal, thanks!

Price reduced again to $40/pair shipped. I'm breaking even on this project but it looks like there is more want for the grab bars so i need to put the $ towards that.
