Is there a another picture ? this one on here is not opening up for me

THANKS LCWIZARD that is a sweet bumper, i like the top to hang out some like it is.
i have always loved that look..
cheers

thanks for the complments

That's a great bumper. It would protect the winch and the frond end, and looks a bit more substantial than an ARB. Suggestion: make it 2inches wider on each side. How much will it sell for? I'd have an ARB winch bumper for sale if close in price.

The shackles are upside down.:flipoff2:

The 4+ shackles from MAF are the best I have used. I loved them on my "old" 40. The "GSK" models were the ones I ran for years. I ran them right side up.:D They are better quality than even ARB.

lcwizard-I have had one of your rear FJ40 bumpers for years. It's the best available off the shelf, hands down. Mine has survived Rubicon at least 15 times, and the recovery points are especially well done. Suggestion: Make backing plates for the attachments to the frame. I made my own out of 3/16 steel just to make a stronger connection to the frame. It's a great bumper, highly recommended to anyone with an FJ40.

I love this bumper! But to buy it from Man-a-fre is out of the question for me. They charge way too much for just about everything they sell. Kills me to give them money. Had to do it a few times.

But I just wanted to chime in and say "Sweeeeeet!"

I don't mind giving Man-a-fre my business but its probably because I can drive there and not pay for shipping. In regards to their prices, I found that they can be even more expensive than $OR for some idems. For example, a full floating rear end from $OR is $500, where MAF sells it for $595 and if they are out of stock on an item it can take forever to eventually recieve it. With that said, I will still buy stuff from them because most of my past experiences have been pretty good and I can't wait to go there and see this bumper in person.

I agree shipping is becoming a major problem. Six years ago a pallet of springs for three fj40's cost a little under a hundred bucks to ship from man-a-fre to here in az. Three weeks ago I had two front springs , a box with u-bolts and bushing and a set of fj40 fender flares shipped. It was a light pallet. $239.00
Al and I are good friends so I know he's not marking up frieght. Good thing freeing Iraq brought down those oil prices. If transportation keep going up my dsys along with other mail order companies will be numbered. The accessory market will be limitted to small items.

That would definitely be a sad day for cruiser owners. :frown:

Wizards comments are on target. There is a lot of comments around here about MAF and others jacking up prices. NOT counting the price of the product itself, shipping companies have driven the market up. Stuff that is large and used to be carried ground is now called freight so they can use dimensional weight charges.
UPS, FedEx and their brothers and sisters all have freight companies attached to themselves now.

Bad customer service or expensive product is one thing, but most companies don't charge more than what they need to to cover labor of packaging. Just thinking a little slack may be ok sometimes before we bust out the lumber for the cross.

I'd buy the bumper if I could get it to my door for under $800. Sweet design, but I actually like the other 4+ bumper for the 60 series. 2/100

pick up question.

:confused:Wizard, could I come and pick it up and save the shipping. I'm in mesa.

nice

i love the bumper just as it is. cost?

Yep, that helps. That tells me more or less what the required clearances are. I think I'll be able to clear my PS unit, but I'm going to stare at my rig with a cold one tonight and make sure... I make the best decisions that way! Thanks for your help wizard!

Personally, I think the bars stick out a little far for my taste, of course mine is a daily driver and a trail rig, and I park in a parking garage everyday, and it is pretty tight, and I have a really short garage at home that the cruiser barely fits in, if none of that was a factor I would probably think that it was really sweet.

not bad

It looks pretty good. Since you're asking for criticism...

I'd make it maybe 2-3" wider at each end. I'd want my bumpter full protecting the front, yet not so much to interfere with the tires. The one you show leaves just a bit of front fender unprotected.

The angle is a bit much, I've never been a big fan of the pre-runner bar front look. That said, no big deal, just my preference that I'd like it more upright. It leans too far forward.

I love the built in/shared shackle mount holes.

It seems a bit low, can it the entire thing be raised up just slightly, maybe 1".

Could a thin flat plate be added to fill in the top, basically a step? No diamond plate, just flat plate up top.

All in all looks good.

I have a version that raises it 1 1/5" for those with a body lift. You have to be willing to live wth the fact that the frame will be lower than the bumber and is visible. The bottom of the bumper is flush with the bottom of the frame on the standard one.
I suppose thin fill plates could be added but if they were thin I wouldn't step on them.
Wider? not sure, It's already a bit wide for optimun trail use. The wider you go
the harder it is to clear those tight turns in a boulder field. About two inches shorter would be full protection at a full lock turn. Where it's atprovide full protection at about 5 degrees
