I would like to know if anyone has a definitive answer whether the fj62 fr. axle has a higher pinion angle than the '60. It has been my understanding that their was a slight advantage to the '62...? (aside from width)

The pinion angle on the 62 housing is a bit more favorable. The width is the same as a 60. If you are trying to do a spring over without a cut and turn, there is a slight advantage to using a 62 housing.

The real advantage of a 62 housing is that it is trussed from the factory and theoretically more resistant to bending.

Unfortunately the truss is on the bottom, and can get in the way. Its a pain to do, but cutting and turning either axle is the way to go....and Im not sure theres any difference. The widths are the same.

Favorable as in it's pointed more towards the t'case?

Right-a few more degrees rotated up, relative to the spring perch and knuckle angle. Kind of like a partial cut and turn. I have a 62 housing in the garage I could take a picture of, but without a comparison, it wouldn't mean much.

The reason I asked is that I have vibration issues with my front driveline at about 35 mph in 4wd. The housing is from an ~'90 HJ61.
