Hello, I have been looking for an 02 - 03' LC to replace or join our 97'. I like the idea of a 60/40 split seat hoping it will still work with a Britax roundabout in the middle position. Could I remove the smaller 40% section to make access to the 3rd seats easier. This would really help diaper changes on cold days.

Thanks.....

AFAIK Yes.
Go the 03

Yes and I vote to keep the 97:bounce:

captains chairs?? doh!!

I think you could, just a few bolts from the floor boards.

However, I was thinking..... hmmmm, what about a custom cut job on the 60% section to take out the middle 20% and make it into "captain chairs" of sorts... lots of $ - probably $500 or so, but what a cool thing if it could be done

OH, and go with a 2003, just got mine last week and LOVE it - it will hold value a bit better than the '02 and earlier...
:)

Yeah, I think we are leaning towards the '03.....

Thanks....

Yes, I have the britax roundabout in the middle of the 2nd row. The smaller seat still flips forward.

There's a LX in a recent issue of LC mag where they removed the second row entirely, had custom 3rd row seats made (or modified the OEM ones), then raised the floor all the way to the back of the front seats to make it the same level. There's a center console, LCD monitors to watch DVD's limo-style.

We have a Britax Decathlon in the center of the bench and can still flip the small seat forward.

I have removed the second row seats (& floor brackets) years ago so not only my kids can hopped in, my dog also hopped in thus no need to flip the second seat forward. But in more few months my kids will outgrow the rear seats.....oh well.

Cheers,

Thanks for all of your replies. My wife has been working on me to get the bigger (IMO - Uggly) Sequoia. Now that we will be able to flip the 40% up, I think I am saved and can continue the search for a LC. If I were to buy a Sequoia, I would have buyer's remorse everytime I see a LC.

Buyer's remorse or an inferiority complex? :)

hey its funny how many of us have britax car seats mine is in the middle also and no trouble flippin the seat forward and getting in the back but i have to say my sister has a seq down in florida and it does have more room both wider and leg room but the lc/lx are better off roaders i went to the car show this week in philadelphia and was very disappointed in the suv out there if you have a car seat in the back (note most are removing the bottom attachments also in the seats requiring you to use either left or right i hope toyota is listening and does not remove this feature) no room what so ever for the back seat passenger with a car seat in there plus the 3rd row is for kids only only the merc gl was comprable to the lx or lc
