No they are not. They are pushrod, naturally aspirated motors pushing over 800 hp. But they were based off the ford block, and they are a v8. I know, because i am buddies with the guys at the TRD motor shop that makes all the motors for NASCAR and i asked them.

The story I read in P4WOR basicly said Toyota could not run OHC's

and had to go pushrod in order to race w/ the others (unfare advantage and all)

Now! A half gallon of melted ice cream to the first person that can name 1 Toyota motor that is pushrod that Toyota based the motor on because the others had too aswell, excluding the f series, (cause they could NEVER be race motors) they been around longer than nascar

What would you all suggest for a Toyota engine to get 450-550hp without forced induction? Needs to be 6 cylinders and 4.5L or less and also have aftermarket parts fairly available (not a real oddball engine). Can run high compression and doesn't have to be real streetable since it's for offroad racing. Gots to be a Toyota :)

Thanks folks.

You might want to ask Michael Waltrip.................................

maybe not

can't answer that one....but another thing they told me is that each motor cost approximately $75,000!!

Haha 2hp/ci, would not call that a full race engine, many new engines now, usually Japanese or European get, close to, or more than 100hp/L N/A. Would suggest 1UZ-FE and some work to get rod ratio down to get quick and high revving, say 8500+. Would be my choice, if you are interested, check out lextreme.com good forum all about 1UZ, 2UZ, 3UZ etc...
Cheers.

Umm, there are 61 cubes in a liter, so a 100hp/l engine is making 1.63 hp/ci. Not full race.

Ivan Stewart ran a 500+ HP 3vz-e based engine in his race trucks for a number of years. A guy just recently auctioned off the remainders on ebay. Could easily build another one... for about $150K
