Hey all,

Quick question. I'm wanting to replace my engine mounts with some heavy-duty ones in my Toyota pickup, I'm looking at the ones from 4xinnovations, I've heard the OEM ones have issues ripping in certain circumstances. The pickup has a 2L-TE turbo diesel in it that uses the same engine mounts as a 22R so the mounts should work. But does anyone have experience with how well they reduce vibration? I'm sure they will cause a bit more over factory, but I'm just trying to figure out if they are going to drive me crazy with the diesel under the hood.

Their basic design is a good one, and a design that I suggest and use whenever the making of engine mounts question comes up. I always suggest that the largest rubber bushings that will fit be used. I've also built trans mounts the same way, only with the thru-bolt turned 90° to the chassis center-line.

Since they state specifically that they use Energy Suspension bushings in the mounts I know that they are urethane rather than rubber. And given that while a urethane bushing could be made from a low durometer material, they almost never are. So those mounts are going to be stiff as sold.

IF (big word) the original application for the bushings used just happens to be FJ60 springs (unlikely, but possible) then you could replace the urethane parts with OE rubber spring eye bushings sourced from Cruiser Outfitters. Then you would have a lower durometer, more compliant rubber bushing in the mounts. In the likely event that those ES bushings are not for an FJ60's springs and assuming the they will tell you what their application is, then you may be able to source replacement rubber bushings for that application to do the same thing.

I'm running the energy suspension engine mounts (iirc) on my 22re. I couldn't imagine going with a non rubber mount for a diesel. I don't think it would be terrible but I wouldn't want to redo the engine mounts twice.
